The Broken Way: A Daring Path Into the Abundant Life, Chapter 4 - by Ann Voskamp

The Broken Way: A Daring Path Into the Abundant Life, Chapter 4 - by Ann Voskamp

Forget the face of God and you forget your own name is Beloved...

Is anything you're doing here adding up to anything that matters? And in the end is what you've chosen ultimately about Christ and His kingdom?  If not, then no matter what you've chosen, it won't matter at all...

Who knows why God allows heartbreak, but the answer must be important enough because God allows His heart to break too...

You're one broken heart always splits God's heart in two. You never cry alone. And still - your brokenness can feel like a tomb you can't quite claw yourself out of...

Maybe air isn't all that keeps you alive. There's a cross that's helping me breathe... I try to remember that grace swallowed with courage is elemental to living...

If it is true that to become cruciform, to let your life become shaped like a cross, is to become more fully human - and most fully like Christ - then this is the work most urgent, most needed...

"Unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit." There's a way to multiply your life. You let every kernel die. "Be cruciform - like I am cruciform." ...

I wonder if I've had this all wrong. When I've thought of time, I've thought of it as something to seize, to try to capture ir that's captured and stoeln from us... I've thought of time as something you have to wring the very most out of, drain to the last drop... But what had Jesus said? "My time has come." What time? The time of  His death? For Jesus, time was not something you seize as much as something you sacrifice. How had I always, all my life, thought of time as this highway robber that steals life, until we ultimately die? But all through Scripture, Jesus speaks of time as the highway by which we have come to die - so we can ultimately get to more abundant life. Time isn't something you seize; it's something you sacrifice. It's not something to grab; it's something to give...

Maybe time gets broken and multiplied and made into something more whenever someone breaks and gives herself or himself away...

Maybe temporary time is made for dying to self - so your eternal self can really live...

Time never heals wounds like God does...

The way to break time's hold on me is to be broken and given with my time...

Why is it so easy to kill time instead of using time to die to self and feel a resurrection?
