Reflections For Living In Times of Covid19 - Psalm 85:5

Reflections For Living In Times of Covid19 - Psalm 85:5

Two rhetorical questions, really, because we know from the Scriptures that God's undeserved mercy is greater than His just anger with us.

No, He will not be angry with us forever. No, He will not prolong His anger to all generations.

Because, as the psalmist David declared: For His anger lasts only a moment, but His favor lasts a lifetime... ~Psalm 30:5

And as the prophet Isaiah stated: In overflowing anger for a moment I hid my face from you, but with everlasting love I will have compassion on you, says the Lord, your Redeemer. ~Isaiah 54:8

His anger lasts only a moment, his wrath is fleeting. Because His overflowing mercy for us constrains Him to withhold from us what we would rightly deserve: His enduring anger, His unending wrath.

It is His amazing and abundant grace, His favor and His love and compassion - and not His anger - that are everlasting and will endure forever.
