Reflections For Living In Times of Covid19 - Psalm 85:2

Our greatest need as human beings, whether we realize it or not, is not for health, or for food or clothing, or for more things. It isn't for a better job, or more schooling, or deeper relationships. Although many of these things are much on our minds and in our hearts these days as our entire world struggles with the Covid-19 pandemic and with the resulting economic crisis.

Our greatest need in life is for forgiveness. When death is near, people's tendency is to evaluate the life they lived: rarely are they sad that they didn't work more, or study more, or strive more for material possessions; often they are disappointed that they didn't ask for forgiveness and forgive more readily and genuinely.

GOD is the great FORGIVER. No matter what we have said or done, heartfelt confession and repentance are the door that leads to His pardon. His Son Jesus' death on Calvary's Cross 2000+ years ago vicariously paid for and covered our sin, and as a result we are free from its guilt and shame and power.

And not just some of our iniquity - not just a few of our faults. But ALL our sin. Forgiven. Pardoned. Absolved. And forgotten forever.

What freedom! What joy! What thanksgiving!
